About Amy
Amy Floyd joined the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra as a cellist in May 2003. She has served as President of the Board of Directors since 2004.
Ms. Floyd was one of the founding members of Les Quatre Bois String Quartet, based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, and has been involved in numerous musical ensembles, including the Corelli Players and Collegium Musicum at the University of Saskatchewan, where she was a music student majoring in theory and composition for two years before pursuing a career in the field of business. Ms. Floyd has performed extensively, both as a soloist on flute, and in ensembles on flute, piano, and cello. She has also taught private flute and piano lessons.
Ms. Floyd also enjoys dance and has performed with ensembles presenting folk dances from around the world, including Iran, Hungary, Greece, Israel, and the Ukraine. She performed extensively in Canada before moving to the United States several years ago.
Ms. Floyd's previous community leadership roles include serving as President and Vice President of Service for the Omega Sigma Chapter - Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, President of the University of Saskatchewan Multicultural Students Association, Coordinator for the Saskatoon Minor Softball League, volunteering as a mentor, coaching minor softball, and working with Special Olympics athletes. In 2006, she received the Volunteer of the Year Award for Greater Houston Special Olympics.
Ms. Floyd has her Bachelor's Degree in Business and Oracle Application Development from the University of Houston - Victoria.
