Renee is the Director of Orchestras at Morton Ranch High School in Katy, Texas. She studied conducting at the Bard College Conducting Institute in New York and the International Conducting Workshop in the Czech Republic. She was a Dean’s Scholar while attending the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she received her Master of Music in Viola Performance with an outside area in conducting. She received her Bachelor of Music in Education and Certificate of Violin Performance from the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music, receiving High Honors.
Renee was a Young Artist Competition Winner for the El Paso Symphony and soloed as a violinist with the symphony under conductor Gurer Aykal, and later was selected from a group of musicians world-wide to perform with the International YouTube Orchestra at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas and world renowned composer Tan Dun. She has also performed in music festivals in New York, Portugal, and Spain.
Renee has performed with the El Paso, Texas, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Richmond, Indiana, and Columbus, Indiana Symphony Orchestras as well as with the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra in Washington, D.C. on both violin and viola. Renee participated in the International Texas Music Festival in Houston two years consecutively as a violist. Currently she resides in Houston, Texas and conducts at local and out of state festivals as well as performing with various chamber and ensemble groups throughout the year.
