Susanna Campbell’s passion for music in general and the harp in particular has led her to share her enthusiasm with others as a freelance harpist for weddings, receptions, church services, and other special events in Greater Houston. She has had the pleasure of performing at a variety of stylish venues such as the St. Regis Hotel, The Houston Club, the Petroleum Club, Tuscany Villa, and the Courtyard at St. James and is the preferred harpist for Briscoe Manor, a beautiful event facility in Richmond.
Susanna is currently principal harpist with the Houston Civic Symphony and the Energy Corridor of Houston Orchestra, substitute harpist with the Symphony of Southeast Texas and has also performed with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Bend Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony North of Houston, and the Galveston Symphony. Her love of playing with other musicians started when she performed John Rutter’s Requiem as a young student and was strengthened by an amazing experience as first chair harpist in the Texas All-State orchestra her senior year in high school. Susanna holds a master’s degree in harp performance from Stephen F. Austin State University where she studied with Ms. Emily Mitchell.
In addition to performing, Susanna maintains a private harp and piano studio and takes great delight in training and mentoring young musicians. She was an instructor at the Houston Summer Harp Festival in 2014, serves as guest clinician at area schools for music camps and competition preparation, and is an adjunct instructor at Lone Star College.
